All Smiles at the Ursic House!

When I was struggling through my first year with Ethan, not getting any sleep at all, I would get so mad at everything sleep related-- Sleeping pill commercials, NyQuil ads, pictures of sleeping babies in magazines... the list goes on. But the worst were the mothers who would eagerly tell me about their 2 month old who's been sleeping for 8 hour chunks every night since they came home from the hospital. It made it that much worse knowing there were babies out there who were not screaming every hour and a half.
Well, I'm happy to report that last night both of my babies slept from 11:00-6:00. That's right, 7 hours straight. Then they both went right back to sleep after I fed them and slept till 9:30 (Ava slept till 10:30). And if that wasn't enough, Ethan decided to play in his room until 9:45 instead of waking me up. Yes, I'm feeling pretty good today.

Here's my Ava trying to squeeze a smile between those huge cheeks:

After a few minutes of trying to make Ava smile, Ethan wanted to show me how good HE is at smiling. I do love his smile.
It takes a little more effort to get Zach to smile, but it's worth it.
Unfortunately, they're all fuzzy...

5 Weeks

The babies had their 1 month check up today. We did okay and were only 10 minutes late. Not bad if I do say so myself. It is always fun to have the babies poop and pee and spit up all over the nurses instead of me for a change. They both are in the 75th percentile for height and weight. They both were brave for their shots (note the bandaid) It's hard with two though, you can't calm the first one down because you have to get the second one ready.
We did pretty well getting in and out of the doctor's office. I'm getting pretty good at juggling. Yesterday I changed a poopy diaper one handed. I was pretty impressed with myself. (I did use my leg to help though)

Easter Photo Shoot

I didn't make it to church today. Eric had to work and I just don't know how I'm ever going to get two babies and Ethan fed and out the door on time by myself. The mornings are crazy for me.
Things settled down this afternoon and I made Ava dress up for some Easter pictures. She did a good job, but got a little tired by the end. (Zach was not in the mood for pictures. I'll try to get more of him the next time around.)

Getting tired of thisAnd... She's done. This is Ethan's first time holding the babies. He's very hesitant to touch them, like they're going to bite his finger off or something. I promised him he could take a picture of the babies if he held them for a minute. He liked that idea and did very well. It didn't seem to phase him that they both were screaming the whole time.
Here's the picture Ethan took. Here are a few random shots:

Is indecisiveness an inherited trait?

So after much debate, we finally decided on Zachary and Autumn for our names. I like the name Autumn a lot, but it just didn't feel right when I called our little girl that. I let it go, knowing that "Ethan" didn't feel right either until we got used to it. Then about 4 hours after we told the Birth Certificate Lady our name choices, Eric said "maybe we should go with Ava". I said YES!

I was leaning away from Ava because it's gotten very popular, but it just feels right to me. So now I have to go down to the Birth Certificate office and change it. But I'm happy. Thanks Eric.A little confused, but still cute

ONE BOY AND ONE GIRL

So we got there at 8:00am and they had incorrectly scheduled us for April 10th instead of March 10th. Obviously we didn’t want to wait until 43 weeks, so we opted to stay and work us into the schedule. Consequently everything went slowly and we didn’t even start the trial of induction until 2:00pm. Around 7:30 we started pushing and pushed for almost two hours. Audrey was a real trooper. I really thought we where going to have to go to c-section (in which case Audrey would have been eternally angry with me for persuading her to try induction). But ultimately the boy was born around 9:30ish at 7 lbs 9 oz. After starting to push the second baby, the baby's heart rate dipped and the OB used the suction to just pull her out, 7 lbs 2 oz. Both babies are healthy and doing fine (except one sleep deprived husband that has to work tomorrow). Audrey is doing great, considering what she went through.

Same as last time with Ethan Magnus, I lost the naming battle and was demote to middle names. Names are Boy: Zachary Ozzie and Girl: Autumn India.
